LANGUAGES - FRENCH

Bonjour tout le monde et bienvenue à l’École Primaire d’Esperance!
Hello everyone and welcome to Esperance Primary School.

Languages play a crucial role in the educational experience of students and in the WA Curriculum as a whole.

At Esperance Primary School all students from Year 1 to Year 6 learn French for 1 hour per week by our school’s Languages Specialist. The French program engages students through a variety of learning experiences aiming to develop knowledge, understanding and skills to communicate proficiently in French, acquire essential communication skills for intercultural capability, and develop an understanding of the role of language and culture in human communication.

Language acquisition is achieved through an immersion based process allowing all students to be exposed, explore and discover language growth. An integral part of building student engagement, confidence and academic success for all students is the incorporation of digital technologies and music in class lessons. Through Seesaw and the use of Languagenut our students are inspired to achieve their personal best at school and at home. In addition, a biannual whole-school Languages Day continues to foster an appreciation for the diverse opportunities learning Languages provides, whilst strengthening student engagement across the school.

Our Languages program aims to enable students to become a linguistically and culturally competent, participant in the global community.
